About The Event
WELL BEGUN IS HALF DONE - THE ART OF INITIATIONS & GIFTING
Improvisers, have you ever completed a scene and said, “Great scene, who were we?” Or, “Great scene, where were we?” Often players will focus so much on the WHAT that they neglect discovering WHO and WHERE early on. By tending to the WHO and WHERE at the outset, players can discover organic games (WHATS) and can set themselves up for stronger/longer scenes. Learning how to give and use gifts will give players the opportunity to open and expand organic narratives.
Rich shares insights and writing techniques from his 20+ years in late night TV (SNL, MADtv, Key & Peele, The Tonight Show) and from having written five resident company shows for Second City in Chicago. Students will learn how to write jokes, how to write blackouts, how to brainstorm and pitch their ideas and how to outline a scene/story-structure. How to tell a story and how to come up with endings. Class will cover runners and desk pieces, character pieces as well as a wide variety of sketch types. Students will learn how to contribute to others’ work; a vital writers room skill.

**PARKING**
At our location we have a couple of parking options.
- Street parking. There are meters along the street but they are not checked by the town at this time.
- This can change at any time but currently the meters are not being checked.
- Town parking lot. Up the street from our building next to the Family Dollar there is a parking lot that is for public use. There is a sign that reads Queen City Parking. During the day there is a charge to use the parking lot, but after 6pm there is no charge.
- Bank parking lot. Across the street from us there is a bank. We have been very lucky so far that after bank hours they have been allowing our customers to use the parking lot. We ask that if you use this parking lot you refrain from littering or causing any problems as this will make it where we will not be able to use the parking lot and you as our customer will have to find a parking spot that could be further away.
- We ask that everyone keeps from parking in the alley behind our building. This is for the residents that live back there and if we work with them and keep them happy, they let us keep having our events without any issues.
**TICKETS**
Online ticket sales will not be available once the door opens. Tickets can still be bought in person at the door price.
